"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." E:6:12

Computer Death

Uggh, yesterday, it finally happened. My old computer died, a gruesome virtual death! What I lost with it is even worse!!!

What was lost:

My website files, which I will have to re-download!
My friends website files and DESIGNS! That was the hardest to fathom! That will take a while to grasp and redo.
Memories.
A new artist I am working with's album art. The album art was redone, but there was a particular photo that was killer, lost.
Photos, I had some real amazing photos that were lost, forever. :(

So here is what happened. I restarted my computer because my adaware program said it could not delete a file, and I needed to restart to have it deleted. Well, when I did restart I got the bluescreen of SUPER DEATH! It said there was no hardrive to boot too, and also stated that i might have a virus LOL! Well, I shut the computer off, pulled the plug, plugged it back in and the computer half turned on, then I turned it off again. Walked away to hear a loud POP! My powersupply blew up! IT BLEW UP! Major frown faces. I need to backup better. Damn. Well, fortunately I had a DELL lying around and am on that for internet use. So yay on that.

Anyway, over this weekend I completed mixing an album for Mario Soldano, about 12 songs and everything ready for him to send off to get duplicated! I am happy about that!

My own personal album is going very slow, but it is what it is. More about that later!

Been awhile, but a lot of progress yay!

First things first. In the matter of a few days I have about 3 songs complete. Doing this new way of making music at first was going super-slow. But, with a blaze of glory I sat down, inspired and finished up another two. The way things are going another two a weekend and one in the week. Its like a snowball effect. :) Also, the great thing is that I am doing these mostly live. So, when I get a laptop I can start doing live shows :) Yea, so the music is really coming along, feeling very blessed. Still is going slow, but the results are worth it :)

Yesterday I did some recording for a classical/flamenco/fusion guitarist. I went to San Francisco. It was great, he is a fantastic artist. Basically I am handling his recordings and artwork for his album. I also took pictures of him and will be setting up his myspace and website. He is an interesting fellow and his lady in his life is a very nice person and has been acting as manager for him. He is older but very determined, and his skill is amazing! The only thing I am not keen on is the pot smoking that incurs. But I don't participate, so it is all to the good. They want to collaborate with me as well, but baby steps :)

Christmas approaching. I dunno anymore. Holidays seem like a farce to me.

Easter- Celebrating Jesus's ressurection...with a bunny rabbit and eggs.
Christmas- Celebrating Christ's birth....with Santa and mass consumerism.
Thanksgiving- One time a year to get the family together
List goes on. I guess I need to look past it all, but I just don't feel connected with holidays. I want to celebrate Christ everyday.

The last few days have been rough, but empowering I suppose. There is some family issues going down. It is really affecting me as I feel sadness and some slight anger of what is going on. It hurts to watch someone who you respected most of your life do something that is hurting themselves with. They are overpowered by evil right now. It hurts to watch, but it hurts to not do anything about it either. I can't, I shant. Ok, that was a horrible rhyme in this down trodden time. Oh, more humor even though the actions are like a malignent tumor. The family troubles are spreading with rumors, and we are divided like mutiny on a schooner. What a shame that our emotions we cannot tame, yet every different time it is always the same.

Musically I am getting that itch again, to just get a bunch of songs done. I think I have come to a realization, I am happy to just pioneer. Money, well God is in charge of that. So I have let that go. Its the song, its the song!

The weekend

Man, what a crazy weekend. It started out on Friday. I went to San Francisco in the Haight District and met up with a seller of the Faderfox LX2. It is a midi controller with tons of buttons for triggereng clips in Ableton Live. The guy was selling it for almost 50% off. It seemed to good to be true, but it wasn't. It was good and true :) So I am supposed to meet up with this guy on the corner at a cafe off of Fillmore Street. Some parts of Fillmore are a bit sketchy but thankfully the part I was meeting him at was ok. It was the journey to meet him that was the adventure!! It consisted of getting lost, missing exits and going down a one way street with angry Mercedes drivers. Blaring they're horns in anticipation the horn sound vibration waves would propel me in the right direction. After the mapquest directions were followed correctly I was able to park, meet up with seller, inspect merch and hand over money. A perfect gear deal. The LX2 now resides in my studio and already put to good use. It is a controlling dream come true. I love it! Now, to Saturday.

Saturday was a good day, super awesome. Then a grim day, with violence and mayhem. I started off my Saturday finishing off a song with Dre. Finally, the first song towards the album is complete. It feels good to feel like I accomplished a set out goal. The mix is good, the song is great and I feel just that little bit more confident. Dre wanted a better vocal take, but when we did the new take it wasn't as fitting as the original which was oozing with emotion. There was flat notes, but they 'fit'. I guess perfection can be designed with flaws. How beautiful. Then went into the night did Saturday go. Me and a few of my buddies went out to eat. Two of the buds were really wasted. I was completly sober. We walked out to leave and there was a BIG group of people waiting for their tables. I was walking to my car and was very close and I turned back and the group was yelling at one of the wasted buds. Then it escalated and I was trying to get there to try and talk to whoever to try and just calm it down. But, it was way too late. All of a sudden it was 20 on 5. I froze. I admit I choked. I saw one friend getting pummeled, then the other one getting jumped, then my one best friend going one on one with a guy and spare people waiting for me if I tried to pull anyone off. I felt like the area around me was spinning, I didn't know who to go to, who to help, who to pull off, there was just too many people. Part of me really wanted to do something, anything. But even if I did do something I could have made no difference. There was just too many people opposing us. It was horrible. Everyone lived. One of the drunk friends got his head split open and had to go to the emergency room, the other was arrested, and had a broken nose. The most idiotic part was the group attacking us not only outnumbered us but were using river rocks as weapons as well. If you don't know what a river rock is, it is a rock that is very big and heavy and smooth. They are usually used for decoration out front of restaraunts and commercial buildings. I have never felt so frozen in my life, I guess that was Gods way of not getting my head split open as well, or even killed. It just feels like it hit my manhood to watch all of the mayhem and not be able to do anything about it.
