"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." E:6:12

Pro Choice: Why is it a choice?

French geneticist Jerome L. LeJeune bore eloquent testimony to the truth of Dr. Matthew-Roths remarks when he gave the following testimony to a United States Senate sub-committee: "To accept the fact that after fertilization has taken place a new human has come into being is no longer a matter of taste or opinion. The human nature of the human being from conception to old age is not a metaphysical contention, it is plain experimental evidence."

(sources stated below)

• Nearly half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion.[1] Twenty-two percent of all pregnancies (excluding miscarriages) end in abortion.[2]

• Fifty-four percent of women who have abortions had used a contraceptive method (usually the condom or the pill) during the month they became pregnant. Among those women, 76% of pill users and 49% of condom users report having used their method inconsistently, while 13% of pill users and 14% of condom users report correct use.[9]

• In 2005, 1.21 million abortions were performed, down from 1.31 million in 2000. From 1973 through 2005, more than 45 million legal abortions occurred.[2]

Abortion. Some say it is terminating a foetus, a non human. Some say it is killing a child, an unborn human child. The stats above are chilling when you put it all in perspective. What are the predominent reasons we as a human race practice this form of eugenics?

• The reasons women give for having an abortion underscore their understanding of the responsibilities of parenthood and family life. Three-fourths of women cite concern for or responsibility to other individuals; three-fourths say they cannot afford a child; three-fourths say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or the ability to care for dependents; and half say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner.[8]

This is the majority reasons. Interference, problems at home/marital and lack of money.

Is the foetus really just a scientific term for human being? How about, immenent life? How about just life? The science community likes to tote early developement as just a zygote, or splitting cells. Which in the first thirty hours of conception is true. Yet, that zygote, or splitting cells will not turn into anything other than human life. But, when does the average women find out she is pregnant?

When women have abortions (in weeks from the last menstrual period)
Eighty-nine percent of abortions occur in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, 2004.

12 WEEKS in!? On average. To put into perspective, within the third week the unborn already has a spinal cord, heart and central nervous system forming.

At this point, the blastocyst, or developing embryo, is looking for a spot to implant in the uterus. Early formation of the central nervous system, backbone, and spinal column has begun. The gastrointestinal system has also begun to develop with the kidneys, liver, and intestines forming. The heart has begun to form.

How is this not life?

Week 5:

The embryo’s tiny heart begins to beat by day twenty-one. The brain has developed into 5 areas and some cranial nerves are visible. Arm and leg buds are visible and the formation of the eyes, lips, and nose has begun. The spinal cord grows faster than the rest of the body giving a tail like appearance which disappears as the embryo continues to grow. The placenta begins to provide nourishment for the embryo.

Do we not have beating hearts as well? We are born, and out of the womb, does our heart not beat too?

Week 7:

Major organs have all begun to form. The embryo has developed its own blood type, unique from the mother’s. Hair follicles and nipples form and knees and elbows are visible. Facial features are also observable. The eyes have a retina and lens. The major muscle system is developed and the embryo is able to move.

We are a little halfway into when an average expecting mother would find out that she is indeed expecting.

Week 8:

• In repeated studies since the early 1980s, leading experts have concluded that abortion does not pose a hazard to women’s mental health.[14]

I have personally known a few woman, who after getting abortions, felt terrible. They felt drained and went into short and long depression.

• Seventeen states use public funds to pay for abortions for some poor women, but only four do so voluntarily; the rest do so under a court order.[20] About 13% of all abortions in the United States are paid for with public funds[21] (virtually all from state governments).[22]

This doesn't just come down to a court ruling. In 1973, Roe vs. Wade just made abortion a legal and more instituionalized method. Reducing deaths prevalent from illegal abortions. Rogue doctors to hangars. Physically striking a woman in the abdomen to back alley meetings. Why would women take such huge life threatening risks? I look at it from a corrupt heart standpoint. Not only from the woman but from her supporting cast. Churches looked down upon out of wedlock pregnancy, as did most families. Shame and persecution would be waiting for this woman. When all she needed was love and support. We all make poor decisions. Some out of lack of education or lack of love. But when we are talking about life, an unborn one, we have to realize we are all defective. None of us are perfect. We as a human race have driven ourselves so far into denial that we justify killing life. We invent 'The Morning After Pill', we provide safe sex education thinking that a rubber and pills will fix a problem. Like putting duct tape and bubble gum to re-attach an arm. Then calling a foetus not viable, for what, life? Therefore justifying abortion. What else is it, but life. There is no other purpose but to form into a human being as we know and perceive ourselves today.

What about rape? What about HIV born babies? These are terrible situations. My heart grieves to even think about them. So, should we be in charge of dictating who lives and dies? Should we just take over God's soverign will and make our own. Shall we also develope a way to scan an unborn child and tell if this child will be an evil person like Hitler? Perform an abortion right then and there? Pregnancy from a rape is not something I want to think of. But, does a second wrong make things right? Do we go down a slippery slope of galvanizing the lack of love in our heart by continuing the mirage of we 'know better'. Do we?

It is important to note that the incidence of pregnancy as a result of rape is extremely small (one study put it at 0.6 percent).17 As philosopher Francis Beckwith astutely points out, "To argue for abortion on demand from the hard cases of rape and incest is like trying to argue for the elimination of traffic laws from the fact that one might have to violate some of them in rare instances, such as when ones spouse or child needs to be rushed to the hospital."18 If we had legislation restricting abortion for all reasons other than rape or incest, we would save the vast majority of the 1.8 million preborn babies who die annually in America through abortion.

"5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me."
Psa. 51:5

"Abortion involves killing because the zygote, which fulfills the criteria needed to establish the existence of biological life (including metabolism, development, the ability to react to stimuli, and cell reproduction), is indeed terminated"

"The living baby in the mothers womb is a human being because he or she is the product of human parents and has a totally distinct human genetic code. This truth that abortion terminates the life of a human being is substantiated by science:

As Dr. Micheline Matthew-Roth, a principal research associate at Harvard Medical Schools Department of Medicine, puts it, "It is scientifically correct to say that an individual human life begins at conception, when egg and sperm join to form the zygote, and this developing human always is a member of our species in all stages of its life."

Perhaps Dr. Hymie Gordon, professor of medical genetics and a physician at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, best summarized the perspective of science when he said, "I think we can now also say that the question of the beginning of life when life begins is no longer a question for theological or philosophical dispute. It is an established scientific fact. Theologians and philosophers may go on to debate the meaning of life or purpose of life, but it is an established fact that all life, including human life, begins at the moment of conception."

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mothers womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Psalm 139:13-16"

Been reading.....

alot. The books hitting my dome are as follows:

Apocalypse Code by Hank Hannegraaf
Privelaged Planet by Jay W. Richards and Guillermo Gonzalez
Bible

These books are awesome, thats an understatement. It leads me to this rant.

I was watching 'Project Earth' on Discovery HD yesterday. It is a show about these scientists and environmental engineers who go around trying elaborate ideas to combat global warming. They do things from trying to re-populate mangroves to already eroding islands off the coast of Louisiana to creating clouds to reflect the sun to combat this terrible global warming we are going through. Terrible and dastardly, I ooze with sarcasm. Mind you, back in the 1970's(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling) we were as a human race destined for an ice age. I guess we humans are resilient, now we not only reversed that trend but are spiraling out of control into overheating this planet. *sigh*

So, what is your carbon footprint? This is the ironic thing about the show. These scientists and environmental engineers are going to these rough terrained spots to start to strategize a re-populating of a mangrove, mind you the island is eroding NATURALLY from a NATURAL DISASTER in hurricane Catrina. But, hey according to this team of esteemed professionals, the re-planting (being successful) will counteract the equivalent of 1.14 million carbon tons(if I remember correctly). Hmmm, and you calculate that how? But I digress, this team of Global Warming combatants roll up in their vehicle of choice: A HUMMER H3. WOW!!! Way to fight this global warming by mashing in a Hummer H3. Not a Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV, no not that. That SUV is too weak? How about the new Chevy Tahoe SUV Hybrid? Wait, that gets 21 mpg, but not as much Carbon Dioxide(monoxide, wtf ever). Sweet, so we can be rest assured that our Carbon Footprint is low now that we are driving a massive Hybrid boat.

And now folks, the point of the show.....I don't know yet. I was expecting in this show to really educate me on 'global warming' and what you can do to combat it, by watching highly educated environmental engineers utilize our worlds finest University educations. For the re-population of the mangrove, the solution was to get various tree seeds that grew indigenous to that area, and put them in pods and drop them from helicopters, have them scatter no more than 4 feet from each other and in ten years, they will grow and combat global warming, if we are alive of course. (fear, you will feel it!) Now, mind you this solution came after doing a lot of trial and error, which is always a good thing. But in the start of the show, the team lead mentioned that it would take 1 person all day planting to accomplish about 500 trees planted. While, his method will accomplish 30 times that, or thereabouts. That to me sounds awesome!! Mind you the helicopters spewing the wretched carbon, and using mad fuel to drop these trees, is minor details. So I was thinking, mind you I am no degree holding citizen: "Hmmm, while you are doing all this trial and error, maybe just maybe you could have 10 people planting the seeds in the meantime so you don't have to do as much, if your method even works. And, if it doesn't work, then you know, you will have half a island planted by hand, and at least that will flourish for sure." Heck, maybe people will volunteer to plant? Long story short, the team finally feels confident. They go for it with the helicopters, and it seems very successful. The seeds in their 'pods' all drop 4 feet apart, and they get about 13,000 seeds planted, or at least in the ground. The next step now is to wait about three months to see the beautiful trees starting to sprout! I couldn't wait at this point, because I figured in my small mind that in that time frame, it could have been planted for free, for a fraction of the cost, by hand. But, the good team of environmental advocates did do this in one sweep of the copters. No time at all!! Then, 3 months later, the moment of truth. The team lead goes back out to the island, in his Hummer H3 and inspects the planted seeds. Hmmm, they didn't take root. Why? How could this be? He inspects the pods, they worked properly. He looks at the seeds and sees the root coming out, but it just didn't take. Oh my? The team lead explains: "I don't get it, the ground is moist, the seeds are for this area, I don't understand why..." Did you ever think that the island is eroding, DUDE? While that one is eroding, a new island is popping up around Hawaii. (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=990CE0DD1139F933A2575BC0A964948260) Maybe it is just the cycles of the earth. Life dies, life forms. Ebb and flow. Ice Age in the seventies, Glabal Warming in the 2000's. I can sense global resources shortage in 2010. Start conserving now.

What is your carbon footprint? What size shoe do you wear? Buy hybrid or die. Feel the fear. Mind you in midst of the hybrid commercials, of cars getting roughly the same gas mileage, but reducing carbon monoxide. There was luxury, and I mean Infiniti SUV commercials, with no mpg posted in small print. SMAALLLL PRINT. Its the money baby. Greenpeace is really that, peace through payment. Not love, unfortunately.

So what is really going on? Polar Bears population declining heavily, really? (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/05/080508132549.htm) Is the ice really melting? (http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/) Or is this maybe an ebb and a flow. Does recycling really work? Or at least the programs we have set up.(http://environment.about.com/od/recycling/a/benefit_vs_cost.htm , http://www.passaiccountynj.org/Departments/naturalresources/recproco.htm)

Fear, a wealthy mans best friend.

The symbolic swan dive
88 ways to win or die
The way the walkers stride
Inside the minds of the ones that ride

Till I die
I ride for the one who died
The one from the tribe
The one who rose and had those 500 watch him ascend to the sky

Yea, after that it was history
3000 converted and it was no mystery
In the heart of the dragon the lion prevailed
Deaths were many yet the human race was ready
In the heart of the dragon the lion prevailed
Hung upside down and in the middle of town
In the heart of the dragon the lion prevailed
The Word spread like the deserts dead
In the heart of the dragon the lion prevailed

False prophets rose and chose to distort with evil blows
Doctrinal misconducts and people chose to believe in luck
The humane condition spun out of remission
Yet it wasn’t enough for The Evil ones mission
Now today, we hide behind universal unity, while justifying our iniquities

In the heart of the dragon the lion prevailed
Today I am afraid to inhale
In the heart of the dragon the lion prevailed
I watch the horseman run rampant and with skin pale
In the heart of the dragon the lion prevailed
Love was taught in its purest form, yet today it is our own interests with which we conform
In the heart of the dragon the lion prevailed

In the heart the Helper was sent, accepted and while Heavens lent

New stuff!!!

So, me and Ariane spent a nice 12 hour Saturday Musicfest in de studio. It was great. We took some video of a couple of the songs we are doing.

One is a song about Arianes Great Grandfather. A wonderfully written dub song!

This grimey rap song is about a typical day on the bus, well maybe not so typical. lol!

888 day

I have been seeing this all day. Well I guess I should throw my words in this mix.

I LOVE THE SOUND OF THE 808. I use the rumbleage all the time. It was a magnificent drum machine, and still is. I would buy one up in a second, even if it meant I could not eat for a couple of days. The Roland 808 itself looks dead sexy, to me at least.

Today: Bored at work. Waiting to make beats. Every day is like this, but I am learning to be thankful for what I have, and not take advantage!

Did I mention I love the 808, the truly magnificentness, and the epic beauty of soundwaves slowly vibrating in the air. I loves it, I love!

Video a week!

So, I was thinking, and it has been put into my heart. It's weird for me to be thinking this way, but I look at it as beneficial. I am 98% down to start doing a video blog. *cringe*, *gasp*, *shudder!* Basically it will be a monome performance blog. I have been practicing the last couple of months and am planning on doing live shows. But, I feel I need constructive feedback. Hopefully I can get some. I understand everyone is caught up in their own world, as I am as well. But, I trust since this has been put on my heart that I will get feedback just like I like to give feedback. It will also help me to get the gears rolling, and to be making a more concerted effort. I already have a song almost done that I have been practicing. So yay!

This weekend. Relaxed, worked on beats. Worked with Ariane, and we started a really good song that she sounds wonderful on. The melody is based off a chopped up octave lowered human chant. With a beat from the nintendo DS-10. Speaking of the DS-10!!!
For you's that don't know- http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/12/korg-ds-10-synth-turns-nintendo-ds-into-instrument-of-awesomenes/

I am so glad a game company and a instrument company formed and collaborated on a truly great 'game'. To be honest this thing aint no joke! You can really get some awesome sounds and make some ill beats. Just got to understand routing of signal to maximize the sound engine. Anyways, I like making beats on the lunch and 10 minute breaks. They instituted a way to make beats by tapping squares with the stylus....oh yea, I liiike!!
=)

God is Love, Jesus saves.

Henry Mancini & the lift!!

What a nice weekend. Really on a roll music wise. I am taking these songs slow, but really maximizing each part in each with the most groove!! For example, in one song, I added some filtered 808 hits, and got it right until it sounded on hit! Basic point, I am learning to take my time for the benefit of the groove! I added some basslines and recorded a couple more skeleton tracks. This James bond cut up themed album is taking awhile. But, it is also because I am sampling like a mad man. I notice the more time you put into pre production, the easier it is to sort a song out, quickly. I have learned a lot in the past couple months with regards to patience, attention to detail and how to work harder. God is really blessing me with lessons learned and wisdom gained. Also, am in the baby stages of working with an awesome vocailst. We have good chemistry and think we can write some great songs and maybe do some performing. Its an exciting project that is just starting up. The vocalist's name is Ariane, she has some vids up at www.youtube.com/yoitsariane

So, just motoring along. A song soon, and can't wait to start pumping out mayhem!

What I am sampling:

Henry Mancini- The Days of Wine and Roses- Some jazzy peices here, soft listening with mad groove. Highly recommend you give it a listen.

Henry Mancini- The Ultimate Mancini- Did you know he did the Pink Panther theme? Or a ton other popular movie, or show themes? Wow!

Thunderball- The Soundtrack- Awesome awesome awesome! Rent the movie, and hear the soundtrack with some rollerball action. lol!

22.7.08

Samplerism

I have been chopping and gathering sample age materials for a couple of months now heavy. Immersing myself in obscure, popular and traditional vinyl records. Not only am I getting awesome musical parts, but also good drum sounds, rhythms and grooves. In taking this different musical approach I have learned valuable things.

1. The music back in the ‘day’ was a lot simpler. The emphasis was on groove, melody. A story was being told, in rhythm and in lyrics.
2. In the simplicity is the true beautiful rhythm and groove. From the structure of the song, the simple melodies played. All in a fat sequence to be pleasing to the listener.
3. The lyrics weren’t about things of super negative connotation. True there were songs with a dark undertone, songs with sadness. But they were never usually about ‘killing’ someone, pimping a hoe or poaching a NARC.

I feel like I am in music school listening to these albums while sampling them. The likes of Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66’, Strauss, James Bond soundtracks, Liz Story, Liberace, Billie Holiday just to name a few. It is teaching me song structure, pleasing rhythmic nuances and to just have fun.

I am glad I am taking this approach to music. It has humbled me greatly in this aspect I’ll tell you about. I used to look down upon, frown upon artists who would heavily sample. Hip hop artists, electronica artists, those who did cover songs. I guess I frowned upon it because I didn’t understand it. I didn’t fully grasp the real art that it is. Listening to all of these records I realized one thing, plagiarism and cover songs, riff lifting and such was apparently heavy in the fifties/beyond just like it is today. Then diving deeper into musicology through vinyl, I come to realize that even classical artists from today’s generation and back in the day generation borrowed heavily from each other whether they knew it or not. So I beg a question. Is it ethical for me to be doing this? Does God approve? To be basing my beats and songs around lifted string riffs, lifted musical portions. Manipulating them into new arrangements with new twists. Is it? Why not, if done with a pure heart. If said samples are giving credit to the original artists. Maybe, if the song you have done is banging and the listener looks further into the song and sees where the sample came from, a thought might pop in their head to listen to the original rendition. Then the listener is now exposed to new forms of music, from possibly before their time, and they are enlightened to an age not much different than what we are in already. I may never know if God truly approves, but I know if my heart becomes cold with success, hard and deceitful. Then that is where a definite disapproval will ensue. Then another question appears. What is the difference between lifting a sample with a pure heart for artistry, and the multitude of cover bands doing their renditions? Is it the ‘clearance’ and ‘asking artist approval’ aspect? I think the clearance thing is a sticky situation. We all start on the bottom, unknown. When we as artists are ‘coming up’ we don’t have the luxury of having direct access to the original artists if alive. A good face to face conversation to iron out use of said lifted samples with the original artist is not plausible. Once again, I feel that if credit is given, and a good heart is present than if you have success you might talk to the artist at that time, which I think is when said conversation should happen.

I guess I bring all of this up after seeing and hearing for years the disapproval of samplers, samplists and cutters/choppers. I see the points brought against them as moot, and not truly valid. It is almost as if we all sit on high horses, overlooking the true artistry in this world we live in. While yes, there are those who would sample and deny, there is a multitude who do it for the love of sound.

rest

Good weekend! Started out on Friday watching 'The Dark Knight'. What a good movie. It is 2 1/2 hours long, but worth every minute. The Joker was played exceptionally well. Christian Bale, as usual did a solid job playing a good batman. I enjoyed the movie very much, and thought it was actually worth ten bucks. Also, during the previews before the movie started, there was a preview for a movie called 'The Watchmen'. It looked very epic and really visually stunning! Who knows on that one.

Saturday was productive. I have just been lately continuing to sample, practice beats and songs. Spent the day doing that and going through my archives on dvd and cdr and taking elements from there to use for sampleage. It is fun going down memory lane. Taking the best from certain unfinished projects and breathing new life into them. The album is slowly getting done, but I think all the songs are banging.

Yesterday I helped my buddies/roommates get our place wired for internet. Did some cleaning, rearranging. I had to crawl under the house with spiders and an enclosed area. I am a wimp with that stuff, lolz. Overall a refreshing weekend.

Therapeutic blog out.

सम चोप्पेद ब्रेअक्स इ उप्लोअदेद फॉर या!

So there is a drummer named KJ Sawka. I found out about him on youtube, randomly. He drums jungle/drum n bass. He is awesome!!! Here is his site: www.kjsawka.com/
And here is one of his videos:

So, on the FSOR forum one of the users named Lush Puppy got a bunch of audio from a lot of KJ Sawkas vids on the net, and compiled a 6 minute blob of a bunch of his breaks. Uploaded it, and I snagged it. Then I thought it would be sweet to cut up that blorb into sections that I could throw in my monome for food. So I ended up chopping the 6 minute blob into 58 sections. With each section beaing a loopable on its own beat. So these can be used for grabbing drum hits, chopping, mashing, whatever!

www.archive.org/details/KjSawkaBreaksChopped is where they are located. Have fun!

The क्य्क्लोने ऑफ़ अ move

So a buddy of mine said "Hey, when you move, give yourself a couple weeks to get adjusted." I said to myself, "heck no, i am getting setup in the studio and start mashing away!!!" Well, it is a couple weeks later, and I am just getting adjusted. LOL! It's true. Live and learn.

Last night I started sampling again. I got some James Brown slammed on down. I sampled some Sade I found on vinyl. Then, an odd find at Rasputins. The best of Gozilla soundtracks. Its actually got some cool cops on it. I will have fun using some stuff from there!! Crazy where you can find good groove lines or string comps. Really fun to search and rip, then throw in the monome with a beat I made, and tear it up!

The drummers of their own timeline are easy to loop, it is the strings that smash it!

7.7.08

Back to it!

Last night was the first 'time' in about three weeks that I finally sat in front of my equipment ready to get stuff done. Don't get me wrong, I have been fiddling here and there, but now I feel comfortable and focused and ready to go. Yesterday I installed my little ac unit in the studio. It is a temporary solution until cooler weather pops in. Then I will take it down, and have a window again :)! On to other exciting things. I started cutting up some James brown and some 'Liz Story'. Very nice stuff to use for canvas painting!! I also got done with taking pictures of start to finish of the studio and part of the move. So, i hope to do a little picture blog, should be fun to see. So, new music going to coming soon, just been in a whirlwind lately, but like always, getting through it...

One cool thing about cutting up vinyl is: If you record a whole track and then start chopping it up, if in your sections of your chop you can make it loop naturally, then it will be easier to layer in time with a beat you make your self. Very cool!

1.7.08

ये, इ गोत सम बीट्स ROLLING

So, last night I finally got to play with some beats. Got my music making area about 70% complete! Been taking pictures of the progress, and it is coming along nicely! I am very proud so far. The set up is minimal and mainly for the things I use only, no unnecessary gear just sitting around taking up space. I figure anything I do not use, I will just store for a rainy day. I know I got a little too much gear, lol! Its all good, I am just looking to get things done now, not really concerning myself with utilizing all the gear just because I have it. Blah. Less is more, or so shall we see. Today I hope to finish up setting up and then its madman scientist cooped up getting albums done!!! I can't wait!

30.6.08

मोवेद इन!

So me and my buddies got moved in yesterday. We got just about everything from the old house. Was a really hectic weekend, as could be expected. I started constructing my semi studio. So far I have got the rug down, most of the foam up and getting things situated. I also kind of took it on the chin with some speaker stands. I bought some speaker stands at frys that were not made for my monitors, thinking I could jerry rig them to work and save money. Basically cut corners. Well, I almost lost a monitor because of it. I gotta keep to the go big or go home motto. In essence it means to spend the money and get what you are certain will work, for the particular task at hand. No cutting corners, it just never works. So, hopefully I can replace the stands I bought, get my money back and then get the right ones. Lolly on that move of mine. Besides that everything has been going smooth, and the little studio is coming nice. I have been taking pictures kinda chroniciling the adventure, and will post up from start to finish!! Should be fun to look at the pictures, kinda reminisce over the hard work. My dad came over this weekend and tore down my old studio room. Major frown faces. I felt like I was losing memories, but at the same time the ones I did remember came rushing back and almost made me sniffle a little. What an adventure God has blessed me with, a very much needed one. =)

More soon....
